The Cass is a consenting-ready, single-level home from the Premium Homes 2026 Architect Designed Performance Home range, designed in collaboration with South Architects. At 179 m² across a single level, The Cass is purpose-designed for sections where the narrow frontage faces north, capturing sunlight beautifully throughout the day. The open-plan kitchen, dining and lounge areas are flooded with natural warmth and light from morning through to evening.

The lounge (5.0 x 4.0 m) is a standout, a sun-drenched space with shape and character that sets it apart from conventional designs. The kitchen (3.0 x 4.5 m) flows naturally into dining and living, with a dedicated scullery to keep preparation out of sight. All three bedrooms are magnificently sized. The master suite (4.6 x 3.9 m) sits privately at one end of the home with its own ensuite and flows directly onto a sheltered deck. Bedrooms 1 and 2 (each 3.7 x 3.4 m) are served by a full family bathroom and separate WC. A built-in study provides a practical workspace, while a separate laundry and double garage (6.0 x 6.0 m) complete the layout.

What sets a Premium Home apart from every standard new build in New Zealand is the Foreverbreathe™ specification, a proven wall system that delivers exceptional air quality and energy efficiency through a sophisticated combination of high-performance natural materials.

The Foreverbreathe wall system is vapour-permeable and relatively airtight, achieving 2.6 to 3.0 air changes per hour under blower door test conditions. That is roughly half the air leakage of a standard code-built home, meaning you spend significantly less on heating and cooling. This improved airtightness is achieved without the use of plastic wraps, polystyrene or harmful chemicals.

At the heart of the system is the hygroscopic wall. Terralana wool insulation and 9mm Magnum Board linings work together to naturally draw moisture vapour away from living spaces. Through a completely natural exothermic reaction within the wool, this moisture is vapourised and in doing so releases energy in the form of free heat, 24 hours a day, without reliance on costly whole-home mechanical ventilation systems. The result is a home free from condensation, free from mould and genuinely comfortable to live in year-round.
Indoor air quality is exceptional. Every material in the wall system is natural and low-toxin, filtering air rather than adding to pollutants. Even the interior paint is non-toxic and breathable. If someone in your family experiences respiratory issues or allergies, the difference is tangible.

Materials Built to Last
The Cass features 70mm Oamaru Stone or brick veneer exterior with a 41mm drained cavity, paired with Earthen Plus thermally modified shiplap cladding for a striking, contemporary street presence. APL ThermalHEART Metro Series double-glazed joinery with Centrafix provides thermal performance throughout, complemented by a Velux argon-filled skylight with Low-E3 coating. Magnum Board is used as both internal lining and rigid air barrier. It is natural, fire-resistant and actually absorbs CO2 as a finished product. Colorsteel corrugate roofing at 28° pitch, Earthen Plus decking, 180mm HBB Earthen fascia board and LVL8 timber framing complete the specification.

At end of life, the natural linings, insulation and rigid air barrier can all be safely composted. There are no toxic, chemical-laden components destined for landfill. True to the aims of sustainability, the Foreverbreathe specification fulfils the needs of current generations without compromising those to come.
